Get Classy Tasting Whiskey Aboard the Shearwater

August 2 @ 4:45 pm - 6:15 pm

Once a month Manhattan by Sail sends a vessel out on the water filled with delicious, upscale whiskey and a group of satisfied sailors. Join a whiskey tasting aboard the Shearwater with Manhattan by Sail and try the best of what local distillers have to offer.

Urban Oyster sends sponsors to each event to introduce attendees to a new local micro-distillery. This sets the stage for an experience that’s both satisfying and educational.

These exciting expeditions take place once a month and every voyage has a different theme. The next Whiskey Sail will be on August 2nd and the theme of the evening will be scotch. There will be a variety of classic labels available for tasting including: Johnny Walker Black and McCarthy’s Oregon Single Malt Whiskey. The local distillery will be the Van Brunt Stillhouse, which is an artisanal distillery run out of Brooklyn. The next sail will be on September 6th with a Rye theme. This being the last sail, it’s definitely worth the trip. Rittenhouse and Bulleit Rye are expected to attend. They are also going to feature New York cocktails: the Manhattan and Old Fashioned.

Every sail comes with an amazing collection of amenities. Every passenger gets to taste from the micro distillery, a small batch and a mass produced whiskey. They also receive truffles from ChocAlive, Two tailored whiskey cocktails and fascinating information on distilling, tasting and all relevant history.

With so much to offer, it’s hard for one to turn their back on this super New York City excursion. In addition to the whiskey, these late afternoon sails offer attendees breathtaking views of the New York City skyline and some peaceful time out on the water. For those who won’t be able to get on one of the remaining whiskey voyages, Manhattan by Sail offers a wide variety of trips and private charters. Everyone who visits New York City should see it from the water and those who can should try some whiskey while they’re at it.
